Sacrament of Confirmation for Youth

In the sacrament of Confirmation, we are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, strengthening us in the Christian life.

To accommodate regulations around COVID-19, Confirmation for 2020 is rescheduled and split into two dates: Saturday, August 22 and Saturday, August 29, both at 10 AM. Archbishop Etienne has granted sacramental faculties for our parish priests. Matt Bittle will be sending updates. Questions? Contact Matt at (updated July 28, 2020)

The Archdiocese of Seattle has lowered the age of Confirmation to any youth in 7th grade or higher. In response, beginning Fall 2019 St. Theresa's Confirmation programs have changed. Please refer to the letter from Matt Bittle for an explanation of the changes.

Confirmation is a two-year program. Youth attend the following classes to prepare for Confirmation. An attendance rate of at least 80% is required.

  • 6th grade youth are part of the Sunday morning faith formation program. This year is mandatory for youth to be confirmed in their 7th grade year.
  • 7th and 8th grade youth meet weekly on Thursday nights, 7:00-8:00 PM.
  • 9th-12th grade youth meet weekly on Tuesday nights, 7:00-8:00 PM.

In addition:

  • All youth are required to attend a weekend Mass every week.
  • 8th-12th grade youth also attend their weekly youth group meetings. (Optional for 8th graders).
