Sacramental Living Sacramental living simply means the living out of a normal Catholic spiritual life; a life within the Church in which the Christian fulfills his or her vocation. Advent: Too busy to wait? “Maranatha, Come Lord!” is the cry of the heart that desires the very real presence of God to fill our being. It expresses the tension of living “in-between” times--the time of the incarnation of God in Christ over 2000 years ago, and the time of Christ’s triumphant return in the flesh. The Liturgical Season of Advent reminds us of this “in-between” time, when as Christians we can experience anew the incarnation, allowing ourselves to become aware of the reality of God’s abiding presence within us. In our technology-mass media-materialistic culture, waiting prayerfully and patiently in the manner of our Lord and his blessed Mother is a challenge. This session seeks to help us all to slow down, and to wait in joyful expectancy during this coming Advent. We will review traditional (and maybe not so traditional) Advent disciplines--sharing with each other memories and practices that have made this time especially meaningful to ourselves and our families. Presented by Bob Toohey. Bob currently participates in St. Theresa’s Parish as a catechist for the RCIA program, as well as teams with his wife Susan to facilitate Baptismal and Marriage preparation classes. He also brings communion to the home-bound each week. Bob particularly enjoys facilitating group contemplative prayer sessions during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

Preparing for Lent
O Lord, our Lord, you have created us for yourself
and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.
St. Augustine
Lent is a season in our Catholic tradition where God “seeks us out” in order to “draw us home” again, as individuals and as a community. We never journey alone, no matter how "lonely" we may feel. We are always journeying together. If we can experience our journey in communion with others, it makes it so much clearer that we are on a journey together. When we share our experience with even one other close friend, or with my regular worshiping community, we enjoy and share the support and environment that allows grace to flourish.
This Lent, you are invited to explore with us the transformational grace available in the Lenten practices of Fasting, Prayer and Almsgiving. You will be given practical ideas to help you develop a spiritual action plan for your lent. Join with us as we prepare together for this powerful liturgical season. Presented by Bob Toohey
